RJD vice-president blames Lalu's sons for rout in election

Patna, May 28 (UNI): RJD vice president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today held party chief Lalu Prasad's sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav responsible for the crushing defeat of party in just concluded Lok Sabha election.

Before commencement of two-day meeting of senior party leaders to review reasons for complete rout of RJD in the election at the residence of former chief minister Rabri Devi, Mr Singh said that RJD suffered a lot due to fight between Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav.

Besides RJD, grand alliance also suffered electoral losses heavily due to it. He said the party in particular suffered a lot due to Tej Pratap and party should take action against him.

Earlier, RJD MLA Maheshwar Prasad Yadav had demanded from Tejashwi Yadav, also leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly to resign from his post by owning responsibility for defeat of the party in election.

The RJD MLA also asked Tejashwi Yadav to hand over the command of party to somebody else cautioning that the party would suffer split if the latter did not resign from his post.

On the other hand, RJD candidate from Jehanabad Surendra Yadav also held Tej Pratap Yadav responsible for his defeat in the election.

RJD, the main constituent of grand alliance had contested Lok Sabha election in alliance with Congress, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) and Vikasshil Insan Party (VIP). RJD had fielded its candidates on 19 seats and extended support to CPI (ML) candidate in Ara seat but the party drew blank in the tally even as CPI (ML) candidate also lost the election.
