Mamata Banerjee wishes Naveen Patnaik as he takes oath as Odisha CM

Kolkata, May 29 (Ibns): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday wished Naveen Patnaik as he took oath as the  Odisha CM for another term.

"Congratulations @Naveen_Odisha Naveen Babu for taking oath as the Chief Minister of Odisha for the fifth time. We wish you well. Greetings to the people of Odisha," Mamata Banerjee tweeted.

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief Naveen Patnaik took oath as the Odisha Chief Minister for the fifth consecutive term on Wednesday.

Along with Patnaik, his council of ministers also took oath.

In the state polls, which were held along with the General Elections, Patnaik's BJD won 112 out of 146 seats, surviving the Narendra Modi wave which dislodged several regional parties across the nation.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagged only 23 seats but increased its previous state elections tally by 13.

Patnaik, 72, is the third Chief Minister to win five consecutive elections after Pawan Chamling and Jyoti Basu.

He assumed the Chief Minister's Office first in 2000.
