Two slain militants belong to JeM , involved in many killings, police spokesman says
Srinagar, Jun 1 (UNI) Two militants, including a Paksitani, killed by security forces in an encounter in Tral, Pulwama in south Kashmir on Friday evening belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) who were involved in many civilian killings and attacks, a police spokesman said here on Saturday morning.
He said two militants were killed by security forces in a joint operation at Midoora area of Tral Awantipora in Pulwama on Friday during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO). The slain militants were identified as Yawar Ahmad Najar of Darganie Gund Tral and Umar, a Pakistani resident.
He said as per police records militants were affiliated with JeM and were wanted by law agencies for their complicity in a series of incidents, including attack on security establishments and civilian authorities.
According to the police records, both of them had a history of militancy and were part of groups involved in planning & executing series of attacks in the area and many other civilian authorities.
As per the records available with police, they were involved in series of attacks in Tral and Awantipora area including killing of civilian at Reshipora Tral on March 18, firing on Security Forces at Zaji Kurd Lalpora forests on April 7, attack on Security Forces at Sofigund Forest on April 9, attack on civilian at Nowpora Awantipora on March 2, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion at Amlar Tral road during the intervening night of March 2 and 3. Several crime cases were registered against them.
Incriminating material including arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other cases.
Meanwhile, he said people are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitised and cleared of all the explosives materials if any.
