Goa CM to meet PM, mines minister to resolve mining crisis

Panaji, Jun 2 (UNI): Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday said that he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union minister for mines Pralhad Joshi to find solutions to mining issue faced by the state.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function near the city, the CM said, "We will meet PM and Mines minister after some time so that he (Pralhad Joshi) has some time to understand the ministry."

The Chief Minister said finding solution to mining issue was a priority for his government.

Resumption of mining in the state was one of the kye poll promises of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during Lok Sabha campaign in the state.

The chief minister said harvesting of mining dumps was one of the options his government was exploring to start mining operations in the state.

The Supreme Court had imposed ban on mining operations last year and cancelled 88 mining leases issued by the state government.
