Andhra CM hikes wages of Asha workers to Rs 10000 per month

Vijayawada, June 3 (UNI): Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to hike the wages of Asha health workers to Rs.10,000 per month.

The CM, during a review meeting with health and medical department officials at his residence located at Tadepalli village near here on Monday, ordered the hike of wages of Asha workers from the present Rs.3,000 to Rs 10,000 a month.

He announced that the NTR Aarogyasri scheme had been renamed as YSR Aarogyasri scheme.

Mr Reddy said that the 108 ambulance services should be revamped. The 108 ambulance services would be made available across the state, he said and directed officials concerned to induct more ambulances.

The chief minister announced that he would personally monitor the implementation of YSR Aarogyasri scheme. He directed officials to instil confidence among the people that quality medical treatment would be provided in the government general hospitals in the state.

Meanwhile, Asha Workers Union Honorary President Baby Rani expressed happiness and thanked the CM for hiking their wages.

In a statement here, she said that thousands of Asha workers would be benefited by the decision.

Ms Rani recalled that the Asha workers had carried out several agitations demanding hike in wages.
