Uneasiness in NDA after Nitish refuses symbolic representation in Modi government

Patna, Jun 3 (UNI): After refusal of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to accept proposal of symbolic representation in Narendra Modi government, uneasiness is apparent in the NDA as Mr Kumar skipped an Iftar party hosted by BJP on Sunday but found enough time today to attend the similar party hosted by former Chief Minister Jeetan Ram Manjhi, president of Hindustani Awam Morcha(HAM), a constituent of the Grand Alliance.

Mr Kumar visibly upset over the proposal of symbolic representation offered to JD(U) by BJP in Narendra Modi government on May 30, he expanded his cabinet in Bihar but no leader from the BJP was accommodated in expansion.

Mr Kumar, however, clarified that one berth was offered to BJP but its leaders did not show any interest to accept it.

On the other hand deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi confirmed that offer of one berth was made by Mr Kumar in expansion of his cabinet but the party leadership decided to keep it in abeyance.

The Chief Minister had hosted the Iftar party yesterday but no leader of the BJP was seen there.

Similarly, Mr Kumar also did not bother to attend the Iftar party of the BJP hosted yesterday. It is all the more interesting to note that Mr Kumar found enough time to attend the Iftar party hosted by former Chief Minister and president of HAM Mr Manjhi.

He, however, also attended the Iftar party hosted by LJP president and Union Minister Ramvilas Paswan.

Warmth between Mr Kumar and Mr Sushil Kumar Modi was not so visible when both met on the occasion of Iftar party hosted by Mr Paswan. Mr Kumar was gladly received by both by Mr Manjhi and Mr Paswan at their functions.

Leaders of HAM have suddenly started appreciating Chief Minister Mr Kumar and they are openly making remarks that he always thinks for the future of Bihar. Such kind of appreciations have enough political meanings.

Even senior RJD leader and former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has offered Mr Kumar to join Grand Alliance again, saying it was time for all to unite to counter the BJP brand of politics which could not be accepted in larger interest of
the country.

It remains to be seen how the political season changes till onset of Monsoon in Bihar.
