Amit Shah rebukes Giriraj Singh for Iftar tweet

New Delhi, June 4 (IBNS): Union home minister Amit Shah has reprimanded his colleague Giriraj Singh after the latter's apparent dig at NDA constituents Nitish Kumar, Ram Vilas Paswan and BJP leader Sushil Modi for attending an Iftar party, NDTV quoting sources said.

"How beautiful would this picture have been if a Navratri meal would have been organised with the same eagerness. Why do we hold back on our own faith and get into pretence," Singh, the new Union minister of animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries, had tweeted in Hindi.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, reacting to the tweet, said: "Giriraj Singh makes such remarks deliberately, so that you (media) make news out of it."

"I don't know what he tweeted. Let me say, I am proud to be a Hindu. I take part in Holi programs too, not just Iftar. I have been a part of Iftar celebrations for 25 years. People who never hosted a Holi Milan party are raising questions today," NDTV quoted Bihar deputy CM Sushil Modi as saying.

After the refusal of Nitish Kumar to accept the BJP's proposal of a symbolic representation in the Narendra Modi government, uneasiness is apparent in the NDA as the Bihar CM skipped an Iftar party hosted by BJP on Sunday but found enough time today to attend the similar party hosted by former Chief Minister Jeetan Ram Manjhi, president of Hindustani Awam Morcha(HAM), a constituent of the Grand Alliance.

Mr Kumar visibly upset over the proposal of symbolic representation offered to JD(U) by BJP in Narendra Modi government on May 30, he expanded his cabinet in Bihar but no leader from the BJP was accommodated in expansion. Mr Kumar, however, clarified that one berth was offered to BJP but its leaders did not show any interest to accept it.

The Chief Minister had hosted an Iftar party on Sunday but no leader of the BJP was seen there.

Similarly, Mr Kumar also did not bother to attend the Iftar party of the BJP hosted the same day. It is all the more interesting to note that Mr Kumar found enough time to attend the Iftar party hosted by former Chief Minister and president of HAM Mr Manjhi.

He also attended the Iftar party hosted by LJP president and Union Minister Ramvilas Paswan.

Warmth between Mr Kumar and Mr Sushil Kumar Modi was not so visible when both met on the occasion of Iftar party hosted by Mr Paswan. Mr Kumar was gladly received by both by Mr Manjhi and Mr Paswan at their functions.

Leaders of HAM have suddenly started appreciating Chief Minister Mr Kumar and they are openly making remarks that he always thinks for the future of Bihar. Such kind of appreciations have enough political meanings.

Even senior RJD leader and former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has offered Mr Kumar to join Grand Alliance again, saying it was time for all to unite to counter the BJP brand of politics which could not be accepted in larger interest of the country.
