Sangrur, Jun 11 (UNI) Two-year-old Fatehveer, who fell into a 150-feet borewell at Bhagwanpura on Thursday, could not be saved and his body was extracted on Tuesday morning.

The operation to rescue Fatehveer began on Thursday itself, but despite the 106-hour-long efforts, the toddler lost his life. His body was extracted from the borewell by the rescue teams at 0500 hrs in the morning and taken to PGI Chandigarh.

After post-mortem, the body was directly brought to Shero village crematorium near Bhagwanpura village and cremation was done.

Agitated people have announced to observe 'bandh' in the district on Wednesday. Due to the tense situation, police was put on high alert and the security was tightened in the district, including outside the office and residence of Deputy Commissioner, as people have alleged that Fatehveer could not be saved due to the 'ineffective' and 'unprofessional' rescue operation.

Meanwhile, Fatehveer's grandfather Rohi Singh appealed to people to remain calm, saying that the administration tried its best to save his grandson. He also thanked people for their cooperation.
