Onus is on Pakistan to resume talks: Jaitley
New Delhi, Oct 21 (IBNS): Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday admitted that India is ready to resume dialogue with Pakistan provided the latter create an atmosphere conducive for talks.
Speaking at the sidelines of a function, Jaitley said that Pakistan has to stop triggers which upset environment in which talks are held.
He reiterated, “We can talk to Pakistan but it is up to Pakistan to create an atmosphere for talks.”
At the same time, Defence Minister gave a stern warning to Islamabad by saying neighbours must understand that India will not tolerate as it used to in the past.
He said, “When Pakistan used to fire, we always had a shield in our hand. This time we also had a sword.”
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval also emphasised that India wants to have friendly relations with its neighbours.
"We would like to resolve our problems through negotiations, through talks. I don't think of any problem that cannot be resolved through negotiations," he said, against the backdrop of recent escalation in ceasefire violation by Pakistan.
