Kolkata, Jun 18 (IBNS): Former Miss India Ushoshi Sengupta on Tuesday alleged that she was attacked by some miscreants on Monday night in south Kolkata but did not receive any help from the police despite their presence just 100 metres away.

Along with a long post, Sengupta also shared images and videos of the attack which happened when she was returning home from work around 11:40 PM in an Uber accompanied by a colleague.

The video went viral online receiving lots of responses from social media users.

According to Sengupta, few boys on motorcycles without helmets attacked the Uber driver at Exide Crossing in Kolkata.

They dragged the driver out and started beating him following which Sengupta allegedly approached a cop at Maidan Police station.

She alleged that when she requested the cop to come for help, he told the model that the area was not under them but under the jurisdiction of Bhawanipore Police station.

Even after interference from the police, their car was followed till the Lake Gardens and was attacked with stones.

The Uber vehicle was damaged and Sengupta was dragged out of the car.

They also tried to break her phone to delete the video she had earlier taken.

"My colleague jumped out of fear and I was completely shaken," Sengupta said.

She also alleged that the police later refused to take complaints from two people.

In her post, Sengupta alleged that: "Firstly, if you are getting mobbed, violated, molested or even killed please be assured about the jurisdiction of the police station before running to them. Because even if it is 100 meter away from your spot and not under the jurisdiction chances are very rare they will come and help."

"Secondly , how does 15 boys without helmet have such ease to beat up the uber driver and break the car . In south kolkata??? What I realised that this was a way to extract money from the driver by threatening him in a mob. This is absolutely a way of extortion," she wrote.

"Thirdly , even if the mob is beating the driver if you step out and raise a voice you will be attacked . To help others and stand up is a scary thing to do because the police who was 100 mtrs away refused to help. The sub inspector refused to take my drivers FIR stating that it’s not under the law," she added.

She said she was shaken by the incident and that it is not the Kolkata she came back to.

The actress tagged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, TMC MPs-Nusrat Jahan, Mimi Chakraborty, Dev Adhikari, Abhishek Banerjee, Mahua Moitra and Ankit Gupta.
