Muslim men attacked in Assam’s Barpeta and forced to say ‘Jai Shree Ram’, ‘Pakistan Murdabad’

Guwahati, June 21 (IBNS): Two FIRs have been lodged against a right wing organisation for allegedly physically assaulting a group of Muslim labourer group in Assam’s Barpeta district and forcing them to say ‘Jai Shree Ram’, ‘Pakistan Murdabad’, ‘Hindustan Zindabad’ slogans.

According to the reports, on June 18 night, some members of the right wing organisation had stopped an auto-rickshaw at Barpeta road where some Muslim labourers were travelling.

The right wing group had forced to say them ‘Jai Shree Ram’, ‘Pakistan Murdabad’, ‘Hindustan Zindabad’ slogans.

The members of the right wing organisation had also allegedly physically assaulted the Muslim men.

The entire incident’s video was shot in mobile and it went viral on social media.

Following the incident, two FIRs were lodged by the All Assam Minority Students'' Union (AAMSU), North-East Minorities Students' Union (NEMSU) and Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti to Barpeta police.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Barpeta police station and police has started investigation.

A top police official said that, a case has been registered and police investigation is going on.

Congress MP Abdul Khaleque said that, it is very shameful incident and he asked the Barpeta district Superintendent of Police to take stern action against the culprits.
