India-Chinese army jointly take part in International Yoga Day celebrations

Guwahati, June 21 (IBNS): In a first of its kind of event along the LAC on the Eastern Border, a total of seventy personnel of Chinese Army and thirty civilians participated in joint Yoga sessions with Indian Army troops at Nathu La (Sikkim) and at Bumla & Wacha-Damai in Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of fifth International Day for Yoga celebrations.

Participation of Chinese Army Personnel in such an event during Border Personnel Meetings will go a long way in promoting peace & tranquility along the borders.

The event assumes significance against the backdrop of June 21 which is being celebrated by the entire world as fifth International Day for Yoga.

On the other hand, a large number of troops, their families and local citizens participated from far flung areas of the East and North Eastern region to spread awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Various workshops were organised by the units of Eastern Command at Kolkata, Dimapur, Shillong, Tezpur, Tenga, Missamari, Tawang, Sukna, Panagarh and all other military stations involving the local population to create awareness about Yoga and encouraging people to incorporate this form of exercise as a means to achieve a healthy life.
