Jamia Millia Islamia University Vice-Chancellor writes to HRD ministry for trained Yoga teachers to start classes
New Delhi, Jun 21 (UNI) Jamia Millia Islamia University Vice-Chancellor Najma Akhtar on the occasion of 5th International Yoga Day on Friday said that the varsity has given a proposal to Human Resource Development Ministry to start yoga classes for which trained staff will be required.
Prof Akhtar while congratulating the people on the occasion emphasised that Yogasana should be practiced every day.
She said that every day one group each of boys and girls studying in the university would be provided Yoga training under the supervision of a Yoga instructor. Teachers, students and other employees of the university can also participate in it.
"Our students receive an education in many streams and subjects and should also get trained in yoga. The world celebrates this tradition and our students should be able to learn and train others as they go out in the world. I have made a proposal to the HRD ministry to get trained staff for such a course on yoga,” she added.
Addressing youths in particular, she told them to do Yoga on a regular basis that would help in building a healthy India.
“Whatever course you are pursuing you should practice Yoga and also teach Yoga”, she said.
More than 500 participants including volunteers of NCC, NSS performed Yoga in the sprawling lawns of MAK Pataudi Sports Complex under the supervision of an instructor provided by the Union Ministry of AYUSH.
The fifth International Yoga Day was celebrated across the globe. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in celebrating yoga day from Ranchi in Jharkhand.
