Assam Rifles UN Contingent in Haiti celebrates Yoga Day

Guwahati, June 22 (IBNS): The 9th UN Contingent of Assam Rifles called as the India Formed Police Unit (IFPU) celebrated International Yoga Day at Log Base Camp, Port-au-Prince, Haiti on June 21.

Since its inception, the Yoga Day has become an International Phenomenon now with people from all around the world participating on a voluntary basis. 

The UN Police officials from various countries such as UK, Canada, Negeria and FPU officials from Senagal and Nepal FPUs participated wholeheartedly. 

Making the 5th International Yoga day a great event, the Contingent Commander of India FPU-2 in his welcome address enlightened the august gathering about the benefits of Yoga in terms of developing a healthy body and a sound mind. 

In the 40 minutes Yoga session, the Contingent Commander lauded the contribution of Yoga and encouraged people to practice Yoga in daily lives.

He also mentioned in his speech that Yoga is not just for its physical benefits but a means to spiritual upliftment in making our lives more disciplined.

Chief of Staff, UNPOL Ms. Julia Catherine Pink was also present on the occasion.
