Srinagar, June 26 (UNI): An encounter ensued on Wednesday between militants and security forces during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Tral area of south Kashmir district of Pulwama, a police spokesman said.

He said troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation at Branpatheri, Tral, in Pulwama following a tip off about the presence of militants.

However, when the security forces were moving towards a particular area militants hiding there opened fire, he said adding the fire was returned ensuing in an encounter.
