Raipur 29 Jun (UNI) A group of thirteen children were rescued from a suspected trafficker on a Shalimar-Kurla Express train by a ticket checking squad of Raipur Rail Division on Saturday, the Division spokesperson said.

They were being brought from Bihar under the pretext of education in Madrasa. The ticket checking squad of Raipur Rail Division rescued them on the suspicion of trafficking.

Giving this information, the Raipur Rail Division spokesman said that the ticket checking squad of Commercial Department in Raipur Rail Division identified the 13 children in the age group of 6-14 years travelling in two berths of S-8 coach of the train at Raipur.

During interrogation it was found that a person was bringing these children from Bihar under the pretext of education in Madrasa. Twelve of these children are said to be residents of Purnia while one child is said to be resident of Katihar district of Bihar.

Filled with suspicion during the interrogation, the ticket checking squad immediately informed Commercial Control Office, higher officials of Raipur Rail Division and Railway Protection Force (RPF). Acting on this information, RPF compelled the suspected trafficker to alight along with all thirteen children from the train at Durg station.

Subsequently, RPF passed information to Government Railway Police. The suspect is currently being interrogated. Information in this regard has also been given to Bihar Police.
