Noida: Wife asks for Rs. 30, gets talaq from husband instead

Noida, July 1 (IBNS): At a time the Opposition is stalling the Centre's Triple Talaq bill in the parliament, a Muslim wife in Noida was given an instant divorce by her husband on streets as she had asked for Rs. 30, media reports said.

A 32-year old man shouted triple talaq in Raoji Market when his wife Zainab, 30, asked for Rs. 30 to buy vegetables on Saturday. She also alleged that her husband Sabir had hit her with a screwdriver.

Zainab was taken to a hospital for treatment and was released later.

During the incident when Zainab's mother-in-law Najjo was trying to remove her earrings, she had objected to it. Consequently, she was beaten up by her mother-in-law, said Zainab's father Mursaleem.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Sabir, Najjo and Sabir's sister Shama. However, Zainab's family said Sabir was released on bail.

Mursaleem said he had brought his daughter to his home owing to her poor health. But after Zainab returned to her in-laws in Dadri, Sabir told her that he wanted divorce.

The couple, who have four children, had a troubled relationship since marriage.
