CPI(M) Punjab opposes release of Dera Sacha Sauda Head Ram Rahim on parole: Sukhwinder Sekhon
Chandigarh, Jul 1 (UNI) CPI (M) Punjab unit on Monday opposed the Khattar government's move to release Dera Sacha Sauda Head Ram Rahim on parole.
In a written statement here on Monday, CPI (M) Punjab State Secretary Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon said the BJP government is going to play with fire by releasing such a notorious criminal person who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2017 under various charges of murder and rape and his appeals for bail had been rejected by the court several times. He alleged that even today he is facing several serious criminal charges in the court including castration of large number of devotees in the Dera.
Sekhon further said that if Ram Rahim was released on bail as is being planned by Khattar government for its narrow political gains it would prove very harmful to peaceful atmosphere and law and order situation in Punjab and Haryana.
The CPI(M) leader reminded the Haryana government about the law and order situation and violence which happened at the time of the arrest of Ram Rahim when he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court under charges of murder and rape.
He opined that the release of Dera Head on parole would also dishearten the victims and peace and justice loving people.
''CPI(M) appeals to all the left democratic peace and justice loving progressive people to come forward to oppose the evil designs of the Khattar government of Haryana,'' he said.
