Vaikaiah Naidu expresses concern over high cut-off for DU admissions
New Delhi, July 4 (UNI): Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said very high cut off for admissions in the Delhi University colleges was a matter of concern.
Mr Naidu said this reflects high standards of education in the university but this very quality has become a problem.
Raising the issue, BJP lawmaker R.K. Sinha said that this time the cut off lists have gone to 98 to 99 per cent in many collages of the university. "Several students and parents were disappointed this time also," he added.
He said earlier Banaras Hindu University, Allahabad University, Calcutta University and other universities were known as reputed universities but now everyone wants to get admission in Delhi University.
He urged the government that the numbers of seats in the colleges be raised and the number of evening colleges should also be raised to accommodate more students.
