Science teacher, his family members try to sacrifice 3-year-old child in Assam’s Udalguri, two injured in police firing
Guwahati, July 6 (IBNS) : In a shocking incident, following instructions of a self-styled godman, a science teacher and his family members had allegedly tried to sacrifice a 3-year-old minor girl child in Assam’s Udalguri district on Saturday.
The incident took place at Kulsipara area near Kalaigaon where a science teacher named Jadab Saharia and his family members had allegedly tried to sacrifice the minor child girl, was Jadab’s sister-in-law daughter at his residence following the instructions of a self-styled godman named Ramesh Saharia hailing from Baneikuchi village in Darrang district.
When Jadab Saharia and his family members had stripped off their clothes and chanting of mantras for preparing to sacrifice the girl child at his residence, some locals had rushed to the residence and knew about their evil design.
The teacher and his family members had also set a motorcycle and car on fire.
They had also vandalised the household items and set those on fire.
There were a total of eight members in the house at the time of the incident.
Locals had immediately informed police about the incident and a police and para-military team and reached the area.
When locals and security personnel had tried to rescue the family members of Jadab Saharia and the child girl, the self-styled godman and Jadab Saharia, his son had attacked the locals, police personnel and journalist with machete and axe.
When the situation turned more violent, police personnel were forced to fire several round of bullets, in which two of them were injured.
Later, locals had rescued the girl child safely.
The injured persons were rushed to nearby hospital.
Locals alleged that, the self-styled godman Ramesh Saharia was conducting puja rituals at Jadab’s house for the last several days and today was the last day of the puja.
“The overall incident has indicated that, they had performed it under superstitious beliefs. They performed puja by stripping off their clothes and it is very unusual things. Two of them had received injuries in police firing,” a local resident said.
