Guwahati, July 7 (IBNS): The Indian army had busted a hideout of NSCN (IM) in Manipur after the militants of the Naga insurgent group were found extorting local people at a village.
According to the reports, based on intelligence input about some NSCN (IM) militants camping at Kekru village and carrying out extortion in the Nungba area, the army troops had launched operation in the area on Saturday night.
Realising the army troops advancing towards their camp, the militants had managed to flee from the area and leaving huge cache of arms, ammunition and other articles.
NSCN (IM) – the largest insurgent group in the north eastern region, has a ceasefire with the Union government.
A top official of Indian army said the Naga insurgent group has set up several camps in Manipur along Manipur-Nagaland bordering areas and conducting carrying out extortion activities.
