Aurangabad, July 8 (UNI): Maharashtra-based Bahujan Maha Party (BMP) candidate Sheikh Naveen Sheikh Karim has filed a petition against AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and party's newly elected Member of Parliament Imitiaz Jaleel for seeking votes in the name of religion.

BMP candidate in his petition to Bombay High Court has accused both Owaisi and Aurangabad MP Imitiaz Jaleel for dividing a particular section of the society into vote banks by making provocative speeches.

The petitioner in his petition requested the court to cancel Jaleel's candidature as Aurangabad MP. The election commission and all other contestants from Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat have been made defendants in the petition .

Two video clips of Owaisi and his brother have also been attached with the petition.

The petition further stated that Mr Jaleel has provided false information in Form 26 before the election commission and hidden the information of Case (60/2016) filed against him.

On April 18, the petitioner had also filed a complaint with EC against Jaleel over a viral video that appeared on social media appealing 'Muslim' voters to cast their vote for the AIMIM candidate.
