India and UAE to boost ties, strengthen strategic links for joint works in Africa
New Delhi, JUl 9 (UNI) India and UAE on Tuesday resolved to strengthen bilateral ties and step up cooperation on various sectors.
Both sides have also agreed to build on these growing strategic links as well as further their trilateral cooperation initiatives, especially in Africa.
"The visit of the Foreign Minister of the UAE provided an opportunity to both sides to constructively build on the vision of the comprehensive strategic partnership and to broaden cooperation in various sectors of bilateral relations," a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs said.
"Had a great meeting with UAE’s Foreign Minister, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan," Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.
Both the leaders spoke "at length" about further improving economic and cultural relations between India and UAE.
On a three-day visit to India, the visiting dignitary met External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar here on Monday.
Both sides have discussed at length bilateral issues related to trade and investment, defence and security, energy security, counter-terrorism and people to people contacts, MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar said.
The UAE foreign minister also outlined his country's vision to enhance bilateral cooperation for mutual benefit of the people of both the countries.
Both sides also pledged to work for peace, prosperity and stability in the region.
External Affairs Minister Dr Jaishankar and Sheikh Abdullah on Monday held wide-ranging talks and discussed ways to boost cooperation.
UAE Foreign Minister visited India at a time when the issue of energy security is high on India's agenda due to related developments in the Gulf.
The UAE is India's third-largest trade partner and fourth-largest energy supplier.
MEA statement further said: During the call on to PM Modi, the visiting Foreign Minister conveyed felicitations of the UAE leadership on ruling BJP's resounding victory in the elections.
He extended an invitation to Modi to visit UAE.
"PM thanked His Highness the President of the UAE and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi for conferring on him the prestigious Order of Zayed, which he said he was proud to receive on behalf of 1.3 billion Indians," the statement said.
Both leaders also expressed happiness at the current state of bilateral relations and discussed regional issues.
