Infertile land, severe drought in Marathwada forces two farmers to commit suicide
Aurangabad, Jul 14 (UNI): Unable to repay their bank loans, two depressed farmers hailing from the Beed and Nanded district of Marathwada region reportedly committed suicide on Saturday, police sources said here on Sunday.
According to sources, a 55-year-old farmer named Madhukar Kombadi Rudraksh and resident of Pathan Mandva village in Ambajogai taluka of Beed district committed suicide by hanging himself to a tree on his own land, on Saturday.
The deceased is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son, police said.
In another incident, a 38-year-old farmer, Manik Vakade, of Gaul village in Kandhar taluka took the extreme step by hanging to a ceiling at his home.
He was also fed up from infertile land, the police added.
It may be noted that so far more than 400 farmers from Marathwada region have committed suicides since Jan 1, 2019.
