Assam Rifles officials arrest Rohingya man who was illegally residing in India for 9 years

Guwahati, July 20 (IBNS): Assam Rifles have arrested a Rohingya man, who was residing in India illegally for the past nine years, from the state's Cachar district, officials said.

The arrested Rohingya has been identified as Alom Hussain Mazumdar.

According to reports, the Rohingya had married a local to acquire a PAN card, Voter card and other important documents and he tried to prove himself as an Indian citizen.

A top official of Assam Rifles said the arrested person was residing illegally in past nine years.
The Assam Rifles have suspected that the arrested Rohingya might be a spy of some jihadi outfit.

The arrested Rohingya Hussain is a citizen of Rakhatan area in Myanmar.
