Commander of Srilanka Navy Chief Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera visits India
The visiting Chief was accorded a Guard of Honour on his arrival at the South Block.
He thereafter called on the CNS, Admiral RK Dhowan and is scheduled to meet officials in the Ministry of Defence and the National Security Adviser.
The visiting CNS will also travel to the Headquarters Eastern and Southern Naval Commands and visit various training and operational facilities at Vishakhapatnam and Kochi.
"Indian and Sri Lankan navies have been cooperating regularly to ensure maritime security and good order at sea. The cooperation between the two navies covers a wide spectrum of activities including training, operations, hydrography, material and logistics and also information sharing for maritime domain awareness," read a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence.
The Sri Lankan Naval Chief’s visit shall afford an opportunity to review and further strengthen navy to navy cooperation between the two Navies and also explore further areas for cooperation, it said.
