Child Kidnapping row: Three Congressmen thrashed in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal , July 27 (IBNS) : Suspected to be child kidnappers, three Congress leaders were beaten by villagers in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh.

Child kidnapping are on the spree in districts like Betul, Bhopal, Indore, Hoshangabad, Sehore, Neemuch, Raisen and Dewas.

Local Congress leaders - Dharmendra Shukla, Dharmu Singh Lanjiwar and Lalit Baraskar - were travelling in a car when they saw a barricade at night. They turned around, assuming some highway robbers were waiting to ambush them, media reports said.

The villagers chased and surrounded them damaging the vehicle. They were then taken out and thrashed by the mob,

Rumours had it that some child kidnappers were prowling along in the village last Thursday night. The villagers immediately swung into action and blocked the main road.

A case has been registered with the police in connection with the matter.

"Suspecting them to be child kidnapers, the villagers chased the vehicle and attacked it. The vehicle was damaged. They also assaulted the three Congress leaders. A case has been filed with the Betul police and investigation is on," senior police officer Ram Snehi Mishra was quoted as saying NDTV. 

Opposition BJP raised fingers to the Kamal Nath government in the state over it's failure to bring a bill in this regard.
