Modi government diluting RTI to help corrupt steal from India : Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi, July 27 (IBNS): Two days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government successfully passed the Right To Information (RTI) Amendment Bill, 2019, in the parliament, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the ruling dispensation is enabling corrupt people to steal from India.
Rahul tweeted, "Government is diluting RTI in order to help the corrupt steal from India. Strange that the normally vociferous anti-corruption crowd has suddenly disappeared. #GovtMurdersRTI"

Despite oppositions' objections, the Rajya Sabha, where the BJP is still lack of the required numbers, on Thursday passed the RTI Bill, 2019 seeking significant changes to the transparency law.
The BJP was successful in passing the bill with the support coming from Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's party Biju Janata Dal (BJD). The BJD had supported only after Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally spoke to veteran politician Patnaik.
The Congress had staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha before the voting.
The RTI bill, on introduction, stimulated sharp exchanges in the House on Thursday.
The opposition demanded that it be referred to a select committee.
The proposed law was passed on Monday in the Lok Sabha.
The RTI changes will allow the government to decide the tenure, salary, allowances and other terms of service of the Information Commissioners at the Centre and states.
