UP government requests Centre for CBI probe into accident of Unnao rape survivor
Lucknow/New Delhi, July 30 (IBNS): After the Yogi Adityanath received a massive criticism since Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Uttar Pradesh government has requested the Centre for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the accident of Unnao rape survivor, media reports said.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was arrested last year for allegedly raping a minor from Unnao.
Survivor of the Makhi gang rape case of Unnao and a lawyer were critically injured while her mother and aunt were killed on Sunday when their car was hit by a truck at Sultanpur Khera roundabout in the district.
Police here said that the victims were going on a car to meet their relative at Rae Bareli jail when it was hit by a truck coming from opposite direction under Gurubakshganj police station area on Rae Bareli-Banda highway.
Advocate Vimal Kumar Yadav, a junior working under Mahendra Singh, who got injured in the accident, told reporters that the rape survivor, her mother, her aunt, and her lawyer were injured in the accident.
The people in the car were going to Rae Bareli jail, where gang rape victim's uncle is lodged.
Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati- the two main opposition leaders in Uttar Pradesh- on Monday demanded a CBI probe.

Slamming the BJP government with sarcasm, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had tweeted, "Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao A new special education bulletin for Indian women. Don’t ask questions if a BJP MLA is accused of having raped you."
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has been opposing the CBI probe since coming to power, also demanded a probe by the central agency.
