Allahabad High Court allows Unnao rape victim's uncle to attend cremation of his wife

Lucknow, Jul 30 (UNI) Allahabad High Court granted day-long short term bail on Tuesday to Mahesh Singh, uncle of the Unnao rape victim, for attending the cremation of his wife Pushpa, who was killed in a road accident in Rae Bareli on Sunday.

A single judge bench of Justice Faiz Ahmed granted the short term bail to Singh from Wednesday morning to evening for attending the cremation of his wife.

Mahesh had moved an application to the HC for a 72 hours parole after his plea was rejected by the Unnao sessions court on Monday.

He is presently lodged in the Rae Bareli jail, on the charges of allegedly threatening the brother of BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Senger, who is facing the rape charges leveled by the niece of Mahesh.

On Sunday, a speeding truck collided with a car in in UP's Rae Barelli in which Unnao rape case victim was traveling along with her lawyer, aunt and aunt's sister. In the accident, her aunt and aunt's sister were killed while rape victim and lawyer were stated to be in critical condition.

The victim, last year has filed an FIR against Unnao BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and others for gang raping her. The victim's father died last year in police custody.
