New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) Chandni Chowk MLA Alka Lamba has finally decided to part ways with the Aam Aadmi Party. She, however, would continue as a legislator.

She said that it was the voice of my constituency's people that instead of compromising respect with the party it was better to resign from the primary membership.

Ms Lamba further said that she was likely contest the next election from the Chandni Chowk Assembly Constituency as an independent candidate.

'It is better that I resign from the primary membership of the party than staying in the Aam Aadmi Party compromising on respect....', Lamba said in a tweet, after meeting her supporters in her constituency during an event on Sunday.

Lamba said she would soon formally resign from AAP's primary membership, but would continue as an MLA.

Earlier, Lamba had said that she would meet her supporters and colleagues, workers on Sunday and would take important decision to continue her work for the people in future.

She had kept herself away from campaigning for AAP in the general elections.

There were speculations some time ago that Lamba, who had joined AAP after coming out of Congress, might go back to the grand old party, if given a chance.
