Assam: Husband attacks mother of two children for refusing to accept triple talaq

Guwahati, Aug 6 (IBNS): Within a month after the passage of the triple talaq bill in parliament, a Muslim woman in Assam’s Hojai district is now fighting with her life at hospital as she was attacked by her husband and his family members after she refused to accept triple talaq as her husband had left her as three divorces.

This incident was happened at Karaini village under Murajhar police station in Assam’s Hojai district on August 3.

According to the reports, the victim women – mother of two children was attacked by her husband and husband’s family members after she refused to accept triple talaq given by her husband.

The accused man named Islamuddin had already married two women and was trying to marry another woman.

When his second wife refused to accept triple talaq, the man and his family members attacked the woman.

Later family members of the victim woman had rescued her in serious condition and admitted her at a hospital in Hojai town.

“My elder sister was attacked by her husband and other family members. The man had earlier also married a woman and married again my elder sister second times. He was also tried to marry another woman and left my sister as triple talaq. But my sister didn’t accept this. Now we want justice,” the brother of the victim woman said.

Following the incident, the victim woman and her family members had lodged a complaint against Islamuddin, his mother and an unknown person, but the Murjhar police yet to take any action against the accused persons.

The accused persons are now absconding.
