K'taka govt to provide Rs 10,000 relief for each flood affected families
Bengaluru, Aug 14 (UNI) The Karnataka Cabinet headed by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday decided to release Rs 10,000 as immediate relief to flood affected families in the State after over six lakh people were displaced and Rs 5000 rent allowance for 10 months for all those families who lost their homes due to deluge.
In the Cabinet meeting held here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister who heads the single man cabinet, as the BJP government’s full fledged cabinet is yet to be formed, it was decided to provide Rs 10,000 for each affected family, Rs 6200 from National Calamity fund and Rs 3800 from the state calamity fund to all the affected families.
Meanwhile, the cabinet also decided to provide Rs 5000 rent allowance for each family that had lost their homes in the natural calamity for the next 10 months until their homes were rebuilt, or new homes were provided.
Official sources said that over four lakh people had become homeless after the unprecedented floods and torrential rains that affected over 15 districts in Karnataka and an immediate allocation up to rupees 200 crore had been released for this purpose.
