Police arrest three fake currency makers from Assam’s Mangaldoi

Guwahati, Aug 17 (IBNS): Assam police have arrested three persons in connection with making of fake currency notes in Darrang district on Saturday.

Following searching of a fake currency making machine, the Darrang police had arrested three persons identified as Abdul Jalil, Mokibur Rahman and Azizur Ali from Nagarbahi area under Mangaldoi police station.

Police also recovered a fake currency making machine from the house of Makibur Rahman.

The police pumped out water of a pond to find out the fake currency making machine after locals suspected that, the machine thrown in the pond.

A top police official of Darrang district said that, the entire incident came to light following an FIR lodged by a person named Sangachan hailing from Manipur.

“The Manipuri man said that, he was contacted with the three persons and they taken an amount of Rs 4 lakh from him and saying that they will start a coal business along with him. Sangachan alleged that, the three persons have not contacted him again and therefore he lodged an FIR at the Mangaldoi police station against them,” the police officer said.

A case was registered at the Mangaldoi police station (case no – 646/2019) under section 392 of IPC.

When started investigation based on the FIR, the Darrang police have come to know about the fake currency making machine.
