Pakistan violates ceasefire on LoC in Nowshera, 1 jawan killed

Jammu, Aug 17 (UNI) An Army jawan was killed as Pakistan on Saturday yet again violated the truce agreement by firing unprovoked along the Line of Control in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a Defence Spokesperson, at about 0630 hours, Pakistan initiated ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and shelling with mortars in Nowshera Sector of District Rajouri.

"Indian Army is retaliating befittingly," he further said.

The deceased was identified as Lance Naik Sandeep Thapa (35),resident of Dehradun.

The cross border firing was in progress, they added.

Earlier on August 7, Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked along the Line of Control in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district.

On Aug 5, Pakistan violated the ceasefire in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri.

On August 1, a civilian got injured as Pakistan violated ceasefire by firing nprovoked along the Line of Control in Nowshera sector of Rajouri.

On July 30, an Army jawan attained martyrdom in ceasefire violation along the Line of Control in Rajouri district.

On July 29, three civilian suffered injuries in Shahpur area of Poonch including a 10-day old child, who succumbed during the treatment.
