Lucknow, Aug 26 (UNI) Former Bahujan Samaj Party MLA and Uttar Pradesh minister Ghura Ram on Monday joined the Samajwadi Party in presence of Akhilesh Yadav.

Ghura Ram is a strong BSP leader in Ballia and was minister in the Mayawati ministry in 1995.

The inclusion of Ghura Ram, a dalit leader, who was with BSP since its inception on 1984, will give a boost to the SP after its strong leader Neeraj Shekhar, son of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar joined the BJP recently.

Along with Ghura Ram, another backward leader Gopal Nishad, who runs Phoolan Sena, too joined the SP along with his supporters.

Welcoming the leaders in the party fold, SP president Akhilesh Yadav said joining of the leaders will certainly strengthen the party base in Ballia and in Poorvanchal.

Ghura Ram, in his address, said several senior BSP leaders are ready to leave the party and join SP.

Similarly Gopal Nishad too said BJP had ditched the Nishad community and had done nothing for them.

Both the leaders committed that they will put all their strength to enable Akhilesh Yadav to become the chief minister of UP again in 2022.

Meanwhile on the occasion, Akhilesh Yadav, also launched an app. Kisan Junction made by a youth of Saifai in Etawah which will help the farmers to get good price of their produce.
