Hajipur, Aug 28 (UNI) Police arrested five accused in connection with an acid attack that injured at least 16 people of a family after they opposed an alleged incident of eve teasing at Dawoodpur village in Vaishali district.
Police said that members of two families entered into a heated argument over a minor issue related to children and later thrashed each other on the issue of eve teasing.
Sources said members of one of the families involved in the scuffle threw acid on members of the other, leaving 16 people including three women injured.
Police said the injured people had been identified as Rupa Kumari, Chandrakala Devi, Gudia Devi, Jai Prakash Singh, Ravindra Bhagat, Devendra Bhagat, Manoj Bhagat, Anil Bhagat, Nawal Kishore Singh, Pintu Bhagat, Arjun Kumar, Roshan Kumar, Mahseh Shah, Ramanand and two others.
The injured had been admitted to Hajipur Sadar Hospital.
The condition of two injured women was stated to be serious. Five people had been arrested in this connection even as a massive manhunt is on to nab the other accused.
Meanwhile, the victim family members alleged that they were attacked after they opposed an incident of eve teasing.
