Congress should not talk about Modi’s ‘Fit India movement’: Nirmala Sitharaman
Guwahati, Aug 29 (IBNS): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday slammed Congress for mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Fit India movement’ and said that they ran an economy with double-digit inflation through their 10 years regime.
Nirmala Sitharaman hit back the Congress party and accusing the erstwhile ruling party of running a baseless campaign against Narendra Modi-led present government.
“Prices were sky-rocketing during their time. Scandal after scandal, even in the allocation of the basic endowment of this country – examples coal, 2G. Today there are cellphones in everyone’s hand. They could not control prices, they led the country into corruption, they led the country into exploiting public assets. Corruption was there, everyone knows what they did. There was nothing left without corruption during their time,” Sitharaman said.
The Union Finance Minister said in a press conference held in Guwahati that - "If managing economy was corruption if managing the economy was to have sky-rocketing inflation, they mastered it."
“So to talk about fit or unfit is not for Congress. They have not learnt their lessons from the defeat of 2014 and 2019 again because of their bad practices,” Sitharaman said.
