Aurangabad, Sep 1 (UNI) Monsoon rains continued to lash the drought-hit Marathwada in Maharashtra for the consecutive day on Sunday -- bringing some respite to the residents.
According to official sources, Nanded, Parbhani and Hingoli districts were lashed by heavy rainfall while Aurangabad, Latur, Beed, Jalna and Osmanabad districts recorded moderate rainfall.
Nanded district recorded highest 48.63 mm rainfall followed by Parbhani 40.70 mm, Hingoli 30 mm, Aurangabad 22 mm, Latur 21 mm, Beed 20 mm and Osmanabad 15 mm.
The monsoon rains from past 2 days may help save some crops that were wilting due to acute scarcity of water. "Empty water resources could also fill up", official sources told UNI.
With this rain now the region's average rainfall goes upto 369 mm which is 68 per cent of expected and 48 per cent of annual rainfall.
