Guwahati, Sept 1 (IBNS): Over 19 lakh people have been left out from the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) list which was published on Saturday.
But the BJP’s Assam unit is increasingly anxious over speculation that a large number of illegal foreigners’ names are included in the final NRC list and Hindus have been excluded from it.
Several BJP leaders are now speaking publicly against the NRC and said the government will do anything for the genuine Indian, if it is found that any Indian name is excluded from the final NRC.
Unhappy over the final NRC, Assam state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass said the BJP is now demanding nationwide NRC.
“We have seen that, a large number of Indian citizens name have not been listed in this NRC list. Among these many are coming from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, Tripura and they have valid documents. But their names have not been listed. They have applied several occasions, but their names are missing. NRC is a national phenomenon, but it has been started from Assam. So the Assam state BJP has demanded to implement it entire the nation in interest of the Hindustani,” Ranjeet Kumar Dass said.
Another Assam BJP MLA Dilip Kumar Paul claimed that lakhs of illegal Bangladeshi Muslims name have been included in the list.
Dilip Kumar Paul – who represented Silchar assembly constituency twice, said around 95-96 per cent illegal Bangladeshi Muslims names have appeared in the list.
The BJP MLA further said that Hindus can never be foreigners in India.
“Around Rs 1300 crore have been utilised in the entire process and we want an error-free, foreigners free NRC. But it looks like as ‘dug up a mountain, out came a mouse’. 95-96 per cent illegal Bangladeshi Muslims name have been appeared in the list. Our BJP’s stand is that, Hindus can never be foreigners. We guess that, many Hindus name are out of the list. Those who are foreigners became Indian and those who are Indian became foreigners. We will not accept it,” Dilip Kumar Paul said.
