AAP leader Alka Lamba resigns, cites party's 'arrogance'

New Delhi: In a jolt to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the assembly polls next year, Delhi MLA Alka Lamba resigned from her party membership citing "arrogance" of some of her colleagues.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Alka said, "@ArvindKejriwal Ji, your spokespersons asked me as per your desire, with the full arrogance that the Party will accept My resgination even on the Twitter. So pls Kindly accept My resgination from the primary membership of the "Aam Aadmi Party", which is now a "Khas Aadmi Party"."

Alka, who served the Congress for 20 years, had joined the AAP in 2014.

She had contested and won the assembly polls from Chandni Chowk constituency in Delhi in 2015.

Days ago, Alka had met Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi fueling speculations of her joining the grand old party.

The AAP is facing a stiff challenge in Delhi from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which has won all the seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

The assembly polls are scheduled to be held in early 2020.
