Ailing former West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya is 'now conscious, alert and talking'
Kolkata: Ailing former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya is "now conscious, alert and talking", said the private hospital, where he was admitted to on Friday night, in a medical bulletin.
Bhattacharya was rushed to the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) of a private hospital in south Kolkata with an acute respiratory problem and low blood pressure.
In the latest medical bulletin on Saturday, the hospital said the former Chief Minister is having oral food.
"He is maintaining vital parameters now...," read the medical bulletin.
Bhattacharya, a veteran CPI-M leader, is away from public eyes due to illness for several years now. Despite reaching his party's Brigade Rally venue on February 3 this year, the former Chief Minister could not step out of his car.
Few days ago, newly-appointed West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar with his spouse had visited Bhattacharya's residence in south Kolkata.
Bhattacharya remained the Chief Minister from 2001 to 2011 until his party was voted out of power by the Trinamool Congress.
