New Delhi, Sept 8 (IBNS): Politician and eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani died on Sunday.
He was 95.
In his long political career, he had served as India's Union Law Minister. He was also the chairman of the Bar Council of India.
He had become the Union Minister of Law, Justice and Company Affairs in 1996 after late former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government came to power.
He was expelled from the currently ruling Bharatiya Janata Party after he wrote a letter to then party president Nitin Gadkari and accused the party leaders of being "silent against the huge corruption" within the ruling UPA-II government of that time.
In his career a lawyer, he had handled many high-profile cases.
He was one of the highest-paid lawyers in the Supreme Court.
Extremely saddened at the passing away of legendary lawyer Ram Jethmalani ji. An institution in himself, he shaped criminal law in post-independence India. His void would never be filled and his name will be written in golden words in legal history.
