The pipeline was inaugurated via video conference.

The 60-km long pipeline, according to reports, is the first ever cross border petroleum pipeline.

The Prime Minister's Office on Monday tweeted, "This India-Nepal energy cooperation project, the Motihari-Amlekhganj pipeline, is a symbol of our close bilateral relations. It will help to enhance the energy security of the region and substantially cut down on transit costs."

"..I am happy that our bilateral projects are progressing through our combined efforts and I have been able to be a part of this inauguration," said Modi while inaugurating the project on Tuesday.
