AIADMK warns Puducherry govt of agitation if cash for free rice not remitted in beneficiaries account

Puducherry, Sep 13 (UNI) AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbazhagan on friday warned the government that his party would resort to massive agitations if the government failed to remit the cash for free rice in the bank account of the beneficiaries forthwith.

Talking to news persons here, Anbazhagan said that if needed the party after obtaining the permission from the High Command would approach the court on the issue.

Anbazhagan said the Congress government in its 40 month tenure so far only provided free rice for 22 months. The people will have to get Rs.11,000 each for the rest 18 months. However, the money allocated for free rice was diverted to other schemes, he alleged.

He said in Tamil Nadu, 1.92 crore families were provided with 20 kg of free rice. But the government could not provide free rice for just 3.4 lakh families here ,he said.

Anbazhagan said the Lt.Governor should have supervised the procurement of rice instead of stalling the scheme itself, he added.

The AIADMK leader said in last year a sum of Rs.216 crore was allocated for free rice and of which only Rs.84 crore was spent.

He charged that the government is blindly implementing Central government schemes and now it is keen to implement the new motor vehicle act.

Though, the Chief Minister assured in the assembly that the quantum of fine due to violation of motor vehicle act would be decided after holding consultations with MLAs, but nothing materialized so far, he flayed.
