Kolkata, Sep 13 (UNI/IBNS) Calcutta High Court on Friday vacated its earlier order granting protection from arrest to former Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar in the Saradha chit fund scam case.

This judgment was delivered by HC Judge Madhumita Mitra following an application by the former police chief that the CBI was targeting him and causing his reputation in danger.

The judge said no one was above the law and the CBI can summon him any time for the interest of the investigation, which was on under the directive of the Supreme Court.

Rajeev Kumar was questioned by the CBI in February in connection with its probe in Saradha and Rose Valley chit fund scams.

The CBI told the court that the former police chief was trying to hide many things and avoiding summons and causing hindrances to the case.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had withdrawn protection to former Kolkata top cop Rajeev Kumar, who was given seven days to approach the high court for legal remedy. Rajeev Kumar's legal team had move Calcutta High Court for anticipatory bail, which was withdrawn by an order of the day.
