Five killed, several others injured in an accident in Assam’s Gohpur

Guwahati: At least five people were killed and several others injured after a truck rammed a passenger vehicle in Assam’s Biswanath district on Saturday evening.

According to the reports, the incident took place on the National Highway 15 at Hawajan area near Gohpur.

The passenger vehicle with 8 persons on board fell into a ditch when the truck rammed the vehicle.

Three people travelling in the passenger vehicle died on spot and two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital.

The other injured persons were rushed to Gohpur civil hospital.

The rescue teams and locals are engaged to pull the passenger vehicle out from the ditch.

“The Maximo passenger vehicle fell into a ditch after the truck rammed the vehicle. Our team with the help of locals had rescued the injured persons and admitted them at hospital. Five people died and few others injured in the accident,” a police officer said.

The deceased persons were identified as 55-year-old Chandra Kutum, 25-year-old Satyaban Kutum, 23-year-oldBrajen Bora, 50-year-old Sabitri Gogoi and 42-year-old Gunamai Gogoi.
