Kolkata: Despite the issue of fresh summons by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar failed to turn up at the office of the federal probe agency in connection with the Saradha chit fund case on Friday, media report said.

The CBI is searching Kumar, the Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, who is not traceable right now.

Rejecting the anticipatory bail, the court said Kumar can now be arrested without any warrant.

The former top cop is accused of destroying evidences related to the chit fund scam.

Earlier on Feb 3, when the CBI had approached Kumar's residence for questioning, the officers of the federal probe agency were whisked away by the Kolkata Police. Later West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had resorted to a sit-in protest or dharna in downtown of the city against the CBI's move.
