Gujarat: Police arrest 2003 Jehadi conspiracy case accused

Ahmedabad, Sep 23 (UNI) The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat police along with the crime branch of Ahmedabad police on Monday nabbed an accused of the 2003 alleged Jehadi conspiracy case in which underworld don Dawood Ibrahim was also an accused.

Yusuf Abdul Wahab Sheikh was caught from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel international airport soon after his flight landed here from Saudi Arabia.

Police said that Yusuf was accused of sending money for terror activities to avenge the 2002 Gujarat riots that happened after the Sabarmati express train arson incident.

According to police, Yusuf went to Saudi Arabia in year 1999. Yusuf was in touch with his Gujarat based brother Abdul Majid. Yusuf sent money for Jihadi activities in Gujarat on three occasions. Yusuf had last visited Ahmedabad in year 2002.

In total 64 accused have been arrested in this case of whom 22 have been convicted by different courts, while procedure against some others are underway.
