Kolkata: CBI interrogates BJP leader Mukul Roy at his house, face-to-face with SMH Mirza

Kolkata, Sep 29 (IBNS) A CBI team on Sunday interrogated BJP leader Mukul Roy at his Elgin Road residence in Kolkata, face-to-face with arrested IPS officer SMH Mirza.

The interrogation which continued for an hour was videographed by the CBI sleuths.

The face-to-face interrogation happened a day after former no. 2 TMC leader was grilled by the Central investigating agency for over two and half hours at the Nizam Palace in the city.

The CBI officials said it quizzed Roy at his Elgin Road residence as Mirza alleged that a huge amount of money was given to him at the location and the exercise was an attempt to reconstruct the alleged crime.

Roy remained cooperative during the hour-long questioning, the CBI officials added.

The BJP leader appeared before the CBI at the Nizam Palace on Saturday, responding to a second successive notice of the Central investigating agency.

Roy had failed to appear before the CBI on Friday as he was preoccupied in connection with BJP's national working president JP Nadda's visit to the city, sources said.

Roy is among the 13 named accused in the Narada sting operations conducted by Narada CEO Mathew Samuel five years ago.

The tapes had come to light in 2016, ahead of West Bengal Assembly elections.

Earlier, Roy had sought more time (upto Oct 2) to appear before the investigating officers of the CBI, probing the scandal.
